Palos Pool Grand Reopening | Playlist for Pool Party

Saturday, June 12th, 2010

On June 5th, 2010 Stevie Dee, one of our Chicago Party DJs, had the opportunity to celebrate with the town of Palos Heights to celebrate the grand re-opening of their public pool. Palos Heights Pool had been closed for over a year now, but with the help of some wonderful individuals they were able to reopen it and give it a complete makeover including a few new water slides, a new filter and plenty of new deck accessories.

Palos Pool Reopening

The Grand Reopening ceremony commenced around 11:15 am where they had ribbon cutting by a few members of the pool staff and mayor Bob Straz of Palos Heights. There were even a few state representatives on hand for the celebration. After opening they raffled off a ticket for the first person to go down the water slide. What a fun way to kick off another great swimming season. Stevie Dee was then on hand till about 3:30 playing all of your favorite summertime music hits. Included below is the playlist he used for this pool party. Please feel free to use this playlist for your next pool party or your graduation party.  There are plenty of oldies and a few new hits to make sure everyone is happy.  For more information on our Chicago DJ service please feel free to contact our office anytime at 877-385-8301.  We look forward to hearing from you!

Urban School Dance Playlist For Inner City Public School

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

One of the great things about being a School Dance DJ is we’re able to visit several unique Chicago Public Schools around the greater Chicagoland area. Over the years it’s been interesting to watch the trends in Chicago DJ music. We’ve really begun to notice that each school has it’s own unique tastes in music. This past Friday evening DJ Stevie Dee, one of our Chicago School Dance DJs, had the opportunity to work with Pritzker Elementary School in downtown Chicago. This was Stevie Dee‘s second time back at Pritzker and it was an absolute blast!

Chicago Public School DJ

The school dance started with a fun Cha Cha Slide & Juke Slide introduction to help get the kids comfortable and warmed up. After that it was non-stop excitement from start to finish. The kids were so much fun to work with and they kept us busy all afternoon long.

Included below is the urban playlist that we used at the Pritzker School Dance. Please note this Urban School Playlist would work great for any inner school, but please make sure you use the radio edits. Some of these songs without the radio edits can get pretty raunchy!

For more information on our Chicago DJ or Chicago School DJ service please feel free to swing by our contact page and send us an email. We look forward to hearing from you!

Chicago DJ Breaks Down Beatmixing!

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

As a Chicago DJ we’re often asked what makes us different or what makes us unique? Well there are so many things that make us different, but one thing I wanted to focus in this post is the music and how we play the music.

Now there are really 3 different ways that a traditional Chicago Party DJ can play music. There is the start and stop method, the fade method and the beat mix method. Here at Operation Getdown we’ve become big fans of the beat mix method and a majority of our shows will follow a format similar to this.

If you’re not familiar with this DJ lingo no worries! Stevie Dee, owner of Operation Getdown DJs, put together this short 8 minute video which lays down what exactly beat mixing is and why we choose to do it. It’s a simple concept, but often overlooked by a majority of DJs out there. Check out the video below to learn more about how our Chicago DJs can take your guests on a music journey they’ll never forget!

We hope that by watching this video you get a better understanding on how important choosing the right music with the right tempo can really be for your event. Without proper transitions you run the risk of having an empty dance floor for a majority of the evening. This is something that every DJ and every party host fears. Eliminate that fear today by choosing a DJ in Chicago who knows the right way to make your guests comfortable and keep them on their feet all night long!

So apparently DJ Stevie Dee from Operation Getdown has got some fans! How funny is this? We were surfing the web last night and happened to come across this unique Facebook Group that is completely dedicated to our very own Stevie Dee. This was just too funny to pass up and we thought it was worth posting here on the blog. Here’s a link to Stevie Dee’s Facebook fan page.

By the looks of it, there is almost 90 people in this group! That’s just too funny. We talked with Stevie Dee today and he said this “I think it’s pretty sweet that I’ve got a few groupies out there.” “Thanks for all your support. I really appreciate it!”

We encourage all of those fans to check out our official Operation Getdown Facebook Fanpage. This is where you can get all the juicy details as to where Stevie Dee and the rest of our DJs will be each weekend. We even have a Twitter account! Be sure to follow us on Twitter today!

Prairie Jr. High School Musical Party

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

This past weekend we had the opportunity to perform at the Prairie Jr. High School Musical Party.  This event was held at Beggars Pizza in Oak Forest, Illinois and it was a total blast.

Stevie Dee was the assigned DJ and boy did he keep those kids on their feet.  Prairie is a long time client of ours and the kids are always a blast to work with.  This event was a privately sponsored event and was put on by the parents of the kids who were in their recent play production.  There were about 50 kids in attendance and they were busting a move on the dance floor all night long!

Some of the most popular songs played during the evening were: “Baby” by Justin Bieber, “Party in The USA” by Miley Cyrus and “Telephone” by Lady Gaga.  They kids also loved a few of the oldies we managed to slip in there including “Thriler” by Michael Jackson and even “Ice Ice Baby” by Vanilla Ice!   The kids also loved the interactive dances like the Cha Cha Slide and the Y.M.C.A!

This event was a huge success and we’re looking forward to the next dance at Prairie Middle School which is at the end of April!  Be sure to check out a few pictures below!

If you’d like to have Stevie Dee or any other Operation Getdown DJ at your next dance please feel free to visit our Chicago Middle School DJs website and request more information!  We look forward to hearing from you!
